Growing organic cotton significantly reduces the negative impact on the environment. In addition to the ban on chemical fertilizers and pesticides, the use of genetically modified seeds is also prohibited. Compared to conventional cultivation up to 90% less water is used in organic cultivation and around half of CO2 emissions are saved.

Therefore the negative consequences of the use of organic cotton on the environment but also on the cotton farmers are lower.
